Imperfection

Imperfect is my dog
The sight of him makes me laugh
My dog’s tail always curls up
My dog’s lip looks weird
My dog is double jointed
My dog is hairy and always sheds on the bed
Menacing is my dog
The sight of him scares other dogs and strangers
My dog is loud and barks a lot
My dog bites me
My dog chases me
My dog fights with me
Yet, out of all his imperfections,
I still love my dog
My dog loves me (I hope)
He has somehow learned to say: I love you to me
He lets no harm come to me
He fights off any threats to me
He makes me laugh
Sometimes he can be chill… only sometimes
Overall he’s a one of one
And I’m proud to say
He’s my dog
